Manipal Hospital
ICU –Goa –(Health Care –Blots a Nobel Profession )
State of the art Health
Care??-“Mission and Vision Statement”
My Mother Mrs Genoveva Pereira was admitted and operated in Manipal Hospital
(24-Aug- To 10 Sept 2012) ,this was howerver the second time she was operated
the first time being in 2010 sucessfully and by Humane service of Doctors who
are next to God for us!!
Whilst
underscoring the burning issue which I am about to unravel with you below I would like to begin in great
humility and gratitude to
(1)Dr.Mahesh Naik who did a
Fabulous job in conducting the major surgery successfully ,
(2)Dr .Mahesh Parsekar
:-Assisted in the operation
(3)Dr. Vasco Dsilva:-Assisted in
the operation
(4) Dr. Madu Mohan :-Assisted in the operation
(5) Dr .Akshaya
Valvaikar:-Absolute angel in giving us timely feedback with empathy whilst my
mother was in ICU am ever so –Grateful for the last moments we spent with our
dying mother which will remain with us always –God Bless her and the entire fraternity of medical
professionals including the ones who did not seem to care ,and a quite a few of
them who are present in Goa Manipal Hospital who are either there by Choice
,Compulsion or simply because of complacence of personnel responsible for
general administration of the entity
I
am writing this to your great institution for the benefit of the upkeep of this
great profession that has been looked up by all, and in the interest of right
& timely judgment being taken by the trained medical professionals on duty
without treating it as “Just another Case/Just another patient!!!”
(A)Incompetent Staff :-Dr Robin
Morajkar ,sister Sheetal: My mother was moved out to Room No# 105 on the 4th of Aug 2012 my sisters
have been present with her and all seemed well ,at 03:-30 Am she was unusual my
sisters rang the bell and was attended by sister Sheetal who took it very
casual and crosschecked with Dr Robin ,Apparently it was just 2 staff on
the entire floor of a full house hospital my mother showed unususal signs of
heartattack visible to lay persons :-Sweating ,violent shiver etc, however Dr
Robin Morajkar and Sister Sheetal passed it off as a common fever!! And even
covered her with a blanket!!!,whilst my sisters tried to soak the sweat in
gauze Am Appalled and Agast with the very response of Dr Robin Morajkar and Sr
Sheetal who have displayed sheer ignorance!! (For sure this may not be the
first case –and perhaps will not be the last if CORRECTIVE steps are not taken
by the able administrator) NO ACTION WAS Taken until 08:30 Hrs a good 5
and half hrs to move a critical patient
to ICU which is just 10 meters away !!!!
and in the bargin have lost my mother ,this has been a height of INCOMPETENCE,
I only thought in the movies it is exaggerated that a PIZZA reaches faster than
a ambulance!! This is no cliché I have witnessed this whilst awating to see my
dying mother, a Pizza delivery boy is granted access (Read delivery) to Manipal
Hospital ICU,after being in the kitchen vulnerable to all sort of infections by
doing deliveries , I commend his spirit and commitment of the jobs as he takes it
seriously ! but dying patients family members have to follow embargo & protocol
of visiting timings!!! How strange and cynical we get even though educated
attached link is :-Pizza delivery to ICU on the said date
Truly
Dominos pizza mission statement of “Hungry Kya !! Knows no boundry !!! and
supersedes your entities Mission
Statement which is displayed in all
departments
(B)Misinformation/Billing anomaly
:-
I was given a bill to clear by the administration
desk amounting to `
1,99,794.00 (One Lakh ninety nine thousand seven
hundred and ninety four) fair enough for high level of services health
care provided I requested the attended to kindly issue me a break up the amount
he did give me a break up (attached Exhibit (A)) this was a hand written bill when inquired
for a print out he politely explained the print out can be obtained only after
check due to operating system limitations!! what ever happened to “ A State of Art technology mentioned
in you mission statement ???” a printout cannot be obtained for this amout of
bill?? Because of a system limitation?
How am I as a customer responsible for this??? I pay over 200 thousand Rupee
and get a hand printed break up?? Questions I leave up to your administration I
was in no mood to discuss this as I needed the body of my mother to be shifted
for the final rites , further more during the passing moments of my mother I
had to run up and down to the pharmacy to get the medication I insisted on
checking the medicines that were given to me with the ICU attendant upon
physically checking along with the attendant I found out that few injections
were not given and had to run back to the pharmacy for collection I did this
although I knew my mother was passing to ensure no effort is sparred , well
unfortunately I was not alone another patient was also issued a INCORRECT PRESCRIPTION Dosage (attached
Exhibit –B ) a 600mg of zivator was prescribed to a patient who was along with
me in the Pharmacy due to the presence of mind of the patients family member he
pointed out to the ICU staff that his patient is prescribed 1gm of the dosage
and not 600mg!!!!! the
attendant convinently corrects the mistake as is evident in the attachment
I Bring this to your notice in good
faith and trust the instinct of administrators in truly providing world class
health to the community and ensuring no life is lost due to negligence or sheer
incompetence
I am thankfull to the effort and
services that are truly provided by your entity and trust all corrective
actions are taken in pluging such uneventfully instances which are neither good
for your entity or for patients and public who place their “Lives “ at your
hand
